Beautiful couple in todays South Africa

As some of us knows, The World Cup in soccer/football has started in South Africa. And I gotta send a big-up to Matthew Booth in the South african team and his beautiful wife Sonia Bonneventia, former Miss South Africa. And when you look at it in an historic perspective - with the racist apartheid system in South Africa, I think this is a beautiful couple. He from the white upper class in Cape Town and she from the slum of Soweto, Johannesburg.

And apparently there are very very few "famous" interracial relationships in South Africa, even today, 20 years after the fall of apartheid.

As a journalist said "Matthew Booth and Sonia Bonneventia are like Romeo and Juliet, mixed with Disney's Lady and the Tramp"

Are we scared?

I think it's time we break this down - for good! :) And I need your help.
As long as I've got this blog I've got this question from time to time. And to be honest, I can't really answer the question, by myself - so help me fill it in.

As Leonora is asking me:

"My friend told me about your site because she happened to come across it while looking up interracial love and black women, something we have been discussing alot. She found your blog interesting and told me to take a look. It was funny because at first we couldn't believe it...we were both like "wow...white men actually like black women!" I guess we have always figured some do but the question that is yet to be answered is....why is it that in public places a white man will look at a black woman, even smile or say a word or two but they don't go any further. Is it because they are scared of what people may think? Are they uncomfortable approaching a black woman? We simply don't understand it. There is a growing population of black women who are attracted to white men but the problem is they don't know what to do or how to go about it because the white men don't seem to approach them. My friend and i both being a part of that group of women."
  • The the Black women out there, are you feeling the same way? Is this a common feeling? Tell us about your thoughts and experiences.
  • And the White guys out there... is this really true? Are scared? Scared of the beautiful black woman? Are we scared of what people may think?
Let's break this down together. Once and for all! :)

Thanks Leonora & Taf for bringing this question to surface! :)

Word of the Day: Nappy

NAPPY.
"Hair distinctive to some Africans and Americans of African descent. If taken care of properly, it is very beautiful, thick, and soft. And people actually DO wash natural, nappy hair."

Clearing it out.

Hi all!

Just quickly wanna clear something about my previously topic here. It's been a lot comments there, which I do enjoy to read. :)

My standpoint about the last topic is that this was just a THOUGHT and not necessary what I think. This is a thought I wanted to drop after a conversation between me and my friend. I'm aware that it can be a bit controversy and stereotyped. And my point is not to say it is this way. Just wanted to drop off a topic I think some people out there might have.

I know, for fact, this is not all true. And I know everyone have there own individual preferences and thoughts. So, I am not looking at black women as a "group doing this and thinking that". It's just a question - to go forward! :)

Thanks for all the comments! Really interesting and necessary answers!

See you soon and til than - stay blessed!

A question in my head

Hey y'all! I'm still in NYC - and I love this city! Beautiful place, beautiful people and the vibe is unique!

There is this question stuck in my head and it has in some ways got clearer while being here. I might be wrong, but I gotta drop my thought.
In some ways I think, this is a thought that might be wrong, that most of the black women that like white men, are looking for white guys that are living the "white life". I mean like typical, from the media focused, "white life". I can't really describe it, and probably there is no such thing, but you know what I mean - more in a metaphors way.

Is this thought of mine in any way true? I'm curious to see your answers!

In my hand, I sometime feel like I've got into a "grey zone" - I sometimes get the impression my way of "adepting to the black culture" is seeing as something negative (negative is not really the right word, but...). But I gotta make this clear - im not adepting anything, I'm just being myself. I happen to love a lot of the "black music", i'm probably using a lot of words that some people would relate to the "black culture", I'm probably wearing a special type of clothes, etc etc. But I'm just being me.

But I'm curious to get some feedback, critique, and reflection on my thought! :)

In no where

Sitting out in nowhere. In a small town called Haverhill, outside Boston. Crazy place. Like a town in some movie. Beautiful but scary. And guess what, no black women here. Weird town. Gotta continue!

Problems with the Blog - but will be back soon! Be Patient!

As you might have seen, I'm having problems with my blog. This is due to Blogger.com/blogspot.com's so-called shut-down of FTP support on Blogger. Which made my day terrible, and for a lot of other bloggers with own domain names (like mine - blackisbeautiful.se) So I am about to find out a new way to get this back again and even better!

I hope you all can have parience with this problem. And I WILL be back soon! In middle of May I will be up and running like normal again! Maybe not through 'blogger.com' - I'll see if there is a better one!

But please stay tuned and be patient with me!

THIS BLOG IS GONNA BE BACK SOON - AND STILL UP-LIFTING THE BLACK WOMAN! Cause thats what this is all about - showing some love to the black women around the world!

/Andreas, www.blackisbeautiful.se

Meanwhile you can reach me at: andreas@blackisbeautiful.se

In the first two weeks of May I will be in the States - From Boston, New York, Philly to Washington and Miami! Holla at me if you have tips or anything! :)

Erykah - go back to the days

Being the subject of discussion lately, Erykah Badu is still one of the most beautiful women in the soul scene! I'm not gonna go into that debate about her new music video! :D

But I gotta give some big-up to her skills. I can't really say Im a big fan of her latest albums "New Amerykah...". Her way best album is the classic 1997 "Baduizm". I'd rank it top 5 of soul album! Mmm... reminiscing! Erykah, please go back to the old good sound! :)
